Tanner and I went to Arab last Thursday to pick up Bentley. We had to learn all the "right commands" before bringing him home. Tanner has been going every 2 weeks to work with him, but I've only been 3 times. We read the book, Leader of the Pack, and we've been making arrangements on how to be "better parents" once he got home. 
Bentley was only suppose to stay at "school" for 90 days, but little did we know the "monster" we had created. I say that in a good way because we really didn't understand the philosophy of training a dog until we met Jeremy....No sleeping in the bed, laying on the couch, we eat first, we walk through the door first...etc. etc. We are all talking the same language now because bringing him home will look completely different from when he left. This was a scary thought at first!!

Bentley is very loyal to Tanner BUT...
continues to test Tanner.
Bentley can hunt and retrieve, but he will test boundaries.
He has to be redirected and redirected.
It's amazing to see Bentley walking without a lead and in control.
Bentley is home and on his bed, but his lead will stay on at home for the first month. He is suppose to stay on "place" until we move him...so no roaming around the house. We put him by a window so he can look out. Tanner walks him 3 times a day and we go outside a few times to play. He didnt' eat for the first three days, had bronchitis, and an ear infection. I think this is getting us ready for baby#2!!
John Tanner is excited about Bentley's new bed and likes looking out the window too. SO... I put John Tanner a rug down by the other window, now he can stand on it and look out the window.
Don't get me wrong... Bentley was never a "bad" dog....however, he didn't have boundaries. We never realized how much our actions in letting him do whatever he wanted impacted his aggressiveness and maybe stubbornness.
He's an awesome dog and we love all of his "Bentley..isms."
He does really well staying in one place in the yard....notice where John Tanner is....

and Tanner is over grilling!! This really blows my mind!!
We are so glad that he's home, but we still have a long way to go to acclimate him completely!!
